About PPPS

Our aim is to  help people of all ages and abilities improve their photographic skills.

We welcome everyone - complete novices, international competition winners, three time losers (You listening, Dai) those  that don't know an f stop from a full stop and even those who recall the old and tried and trusted box brownie. And yes - even those who simply use their mobile phones to get images. There's never been a better time to take pictures with the choice  of high performance but  cheap cameras and the introduction of AI that will surely revolutionise the securing of images.

We occasionally have sessions where members are invited to bring along their images either stored on a thumb drive or as actual prints. They then talk us through the images, explaining composition choices and relevant technical details etc.

We also run practical evenings where the more experienced members can demonstrate particular photographic skills such as use of studio lighting or the taking of close up macro images.

We also book a wide range of professional presenters who talk about their work using slides and prints to help explain  how they achieve success.

For the more competitive members we run a number of internal competitions with trophies awarded to the winners. We also submit entries for inter-club completions that help keep us on our toes.

Or maybe you just want to relax for a few hours and enjoy our company

Pop in and have a chat – we meet every Thursday evening and meetings run from 7:30 till 9. We start on the 4th of  September and finish at the end of May.

We meet at the church, The Lady of The Sea in  21 New Road,  Porthcawl.
